Important medicines and there uses
Borage leaves:
Appearance - This plant has hairy leaves and small blue or pink star-shaped flowers.
Uses - Helps nursing queens produce milk and brings down fever.
Burdock root:
Appearance - This plant is a tall-stemmed, sharp-smelling thistle with dark leaves.
Uses - Dig up the roots and chew them into a pulp. They cure infection and are mainly used on rat bites.
Catmint (also used as catmint):
Appearance - A delicious-smelling, leafy plant that’s hard to find in the wild.
Uses - Best cure for greencough.
Chervil:
Appearance - This plant has large spreading fernlike leaves and small white flowers. It has a sweet scent.
Uses - Juice from the leaves can be used on infected wounds and chewing the roots helps with bellyache.
Cobwebs:
Appearance - Cobwebs can be found all over the forest but make sure to only collect empty ones (none with flies or spiders in)!
Uses - Wrap it round an injury (like a bandage) and it will soak up all the blood and stop the bleeding.
Coltsfoot:
Appearance - A flowering plant, a bit like a dandelion, with yellow or white flowers.
Uses - Once the leaves have been chewed into a pulp they can be eaten to help with shortness of breath.
Comfrey:
Appearance - A plant with large leaves and small bell shaped flowers, which can be white, pink or purple
Uses - The fat black roots can be chewed into a poultice to mend broken bones or soothe wounds.
Dock:
Appearance - A plant similar to sorrel.
Uses - Chew this plant and apply to soothe scratches.
Dried Oak leaf:
Appearance - Leaves that are found on Oak tree's but only use them when dried!
Uses - Stops infections.
Feverfew:
Appearance - A small bush with flowers like daises.
Uses- The leaves can be eaten to cool down body temperature. Usually used on cats with fever or chills.
Goldenrod:
Appearance - This plant is tall and has bright yellow flowers.
Uses - Once made into a poultice this herb is fantastic for healing wounds.
Honey:
Appearance - A sweet golden liquid created by bee's and found in there nests. Hard to get without being stung.
Uses - Great for soothing infections or the throats of cats who have breathed in smoke.
Horsetail:
Appearance - A tall plant with bristly stems usually found in marshy grounds.
Uses - The leaves are used to treat infected wounds. Usually applied as a poulitice.
Juniper berries:
Appearance - A bush with spiky dark green leaves and purple berries.
Uses - The berries soothe bellyache and help cats who are having trouble breathing.
Lavander:
Appearance - A small purple flowering plant.
Uses - Cures fever.
Marigold:
Appearance - A bright orange or yellow flower that grows low to the ground.
Uses - The petals are chewed into a poulitice and applied to wounds to stop infection.
Mouse bile:
Appearance - A bad-smelling liquid produced by mice.
Uses - The only remedy for ticks. Dab a little moss soaked in bile on a tick and it will fall right off. Wash paws in running water after (not with your tongue)!
Poppy seed:
Appearance - Small black seeds shaken from a dried poppy flower (Poppy flowers are a bright red).
Uses - These are fed to cats to make them sleep or soothe them if distressed. Not recommended for nursing queens.
Stinging nettle:
Appearance - Spiny green leaves covered in stinging hairs.
Uses - The seeds can be administered to a cat who has swallowed poison and the leaves when applied to a wound will bring down swelling.
Tansy:
Appearance - A strong smelling plant with round yellow flowers.
Uses - Good for curing coughs but must be eaten in small doses.
Thyme:
Appearance - A low growing shrub with tiny greyish-green leaves.
Uses - This herb can be eaten to calm anxiety and frayed nerves.
Watermint:
Appearance - A leafy green plant found in streams or damp earth.
Uses - Chewed into a pulp then fed to cats with bellyache.
Wild Garlic:
Appearance - This plant has green leaves with small white flowers that are growing into garlic.
Uses - Rolling in a patch of wild garlic helps prevent infection especially from dangerous wounds like rat bites.
Yarrow:
Appearance - This plant's flowers come in colours of red, pink, yellow and white.
Uses - Once the leaves of this plant have been made into a poulitice they can be applied to wounds or scratches to expel poison.
Deathberries:
Appearance - Shiny red berries that look very tasty known to twolegs as yew berries.
Uses - These are NOT medicene and are fatally poisonous to even the strongest warrior. Not many cats that eat these berries live to tell the tale.
